Those who know Karla Umlauf...
Describe her as smart, adventuresome, detail
oriented, highly energetic and a real ‘people’ person. Karla’s helpful,
positive personality and her clearly professional attributes reflect a
unique and delightful person in whom you can place your trust. A Coloradan
through and through, Karla enjoys spending her free time with family and
friends in the great Colorado outdoors. Whether it’s hiking with her
husband, Ed, or exploring the Front Range wilderness with her dogs, she
appreciates this glorious state and all that it has to offer. Karla and Ed
have three grown children, but there’s no empty nest here! Three dogs and
a cat keep their lives full of love, joy and entertainment.
A Truly Unique Life
Karla developed her strong work ethic and
discipline early in life, working summers on her grandparents’ Kansas
farm. Arising before dawn on a daily basis, corralling cattle on
horseback, and harvesting wheat were just a few of the rigors of farmlife.
Sleeping in was a luxury that did not exist. As a teen, Karla stayed close
to home in Denver, life-guarding at Denver city pools, and treating
herself to the Colorado outdoors with mountain biking, camping and skiing.
Karla loves making memories.
When she’s not busy helping clients she enjoys working on her
scrapbooks.

Karla’s upbringing and her post-secondary
education laid a firm ethical foundation. Her self-discipline and
commitment to responsibility were further enhanced while serving twenty
years in the United States Navy. It was then that Karla’s tenacity and
sense of adventure really emerged. In addition, her commitment to achieve
her personal best and strive to be beyond ‘average’ was evident to those
who worked with her. For example, it wasn’t enough for Karla that she
excelled as a naval air traffic controller. She wanted to be the best one
possible, and so, in order to understand just how her work affected pilots
in the air, Karla climbed into the cockpit herself!
